The Horaj Forest is not only a place of rest for tourists and nature lovers, but also an important historical point. Every year, ceremonies are held here to commemorate the Battle of Oleszyce in September 1939. In this battle, soldiers of the 21st Mountain Infantry Division under the command of General Józef Kustroń resisted the German troops. General Kustroń, who personally led the fight, died in this battle, and today his heroism is commemorated by a monument located in the Horaj Forest. The forest can be admired in a new version, thanks to the work carried out by the Oleszyce Forest District. Moszczanica – a border village. During the partitions, Moszczanica found itself in the newly established Austrian province, namely the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, commonly known as Galicia. At the beginning of 1867, it became part of Cieszanów County. During the period of belonging to the Austrian Empire (later Austria-Hungary), the town bordered on the Russian partition from the north, specifically on the Biłgoraj County in the Lublin Governorate.
