The Altona Main Cemetery is a 63-hectare park cemetery in the northwest of Hamburg; the main entrance is located on Stadionstraße. It was opened in 1923 and, in addition to traditional burials, also offers HSV graves, Muslim graves, as well as natural tree graves and memorial gardens, and a war memorial. Due to its location, it is also a local recreation area and is popular with walkers. For specific inquiries or to plan a burial, you can contact the cemetery administration directly or view the information on the Hamburg.de Altona Main Cemetery page. A visit is recommended and interesting at the same time 👍🏼.

Uwe Seeler Foot A place of beautiful memories, the bronze monument in honor of HSV idol Uwe Seeler has become a place of touching remembrance. Back then, on August 24, 2005, when the oversized bronze sculpture was unveiled in his honor, Uwe Seeler was naturally in the midst of it all. Together with numerous invited guests, he inaugurated his own monument and demonstrated what had characterized him throughout his life: Pure joy of life, bliss, humility, and gratitude. Almost 17 years later, the Uwe Seeler Foot has become a place of memory. Since the death of the HSV idol on July 21, countless people have made a pilgrimage to the landmark and paid their last respects to "Uns Uwe". Many flowers, candles, and wreaths were laid down. But also very personal dedications: A condolence book, several letters, and notes with memorial sayings. Of course, tears flow again and again among the mourners, but here and there a smile can also be seen on their faces.

You wouldn't have expected the Dahlia Garden here. I like the variety when you ride through a nice park area here. It's part of the Green Ring around Hamburg.

💙🤍The Volksparkstadion is a football stadium in Hamburg and has space for 57,000 spectators at Uwe-Seeler-Allee 9 ⚽️. Located in the Bahrenfeld district in the Altonaer Volkspark, it is the home ground of Hamburger SV💙🤍⚽️. 🏟When the Volksparkstadion first opened in 1953, it was the second-largest football stadium in the Federal Republic after the Olympiastadion in Berlin⚽️. Converted into a pure football stadium from 1998 to 2000, in addition to football matches, 🎤concerts and other events also take place in the stadium🏟. During a stadium tour or from the stadium restaurant „Die Raute“, you can enjoy the impressive backdrop of a UEFA 5-star stadium💙🤍🏟⚽️.

At the initiative of the Altona district assembly, the former Sylvesterallee near the Volksparkstadion was renamed in honor of the HSV legend two years after his death. As honorary captain of the national team and an honorary citizen of Hamburg, Uwe Seeler was a role model for many people, both in terms of his sporting achievements and his character. Uwe Seeler was born in Hamburg on November 5, 1936. He died on July 21, 2022. Many Hamburg residents knew him as "the greatest HSV player of all time," having scored 404 goals in 476 appearances for his club and becoming the first Bundesliga top scorer in the 1963/64 season. With the national team, Uwe Seeler became World Cup runner-up in 1966, scoring 43 goals in 72 appearances for the German national team. In addition to his sporting successes, Uwe Seeler was committed to civic engagement. In 1996, he founded the Uwe Seeler Foundation, which supports people in need. In 1970, he became the first German athlete to be awarded the Federal Cross of Merit. On his 50th birthday in 1986, the Senate established the Uwe Seeler Prize to promote youth development in football clubs, which has been awarded close to his birthday ever since. In 2003, Uwe Seeler was granted honorary citizenship of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
