Heinrich Schliemann had this house built in Athens between 1879 and 1881, designed by the architect Ernst Ziller. The interior is inspired by his excavations at Mycenae and Troy. Although it is called the "House or Hut of Troy," it is actually a palace in the neoclassical style. In 1926, Schliemann's widow, Sophia Engastromenos, was forced to sell the house to the Greek state due to financial difficulties. After renovation, it has been used as part of the Numismatic Museum since 1998.
