Gets a little gravelly in sections but is otherwise perfectly suitable as an access route to the Brecons, Merthyr, Abergavenny and the Black Mountains.

Recommend starting in Pontypool as the upticks on the Brecon/Monmouth canal from Newport can really sap your strength.
