Particularly worth seeing are the impressive, colorful stained glass windows in the interior, which were created by the artist Louis Jacquemart between 1906 and 1963.

The brick building, built in the Maasland style with its elegant bell tower and representative external staircase, was the administrative heart of the municipality for generations. A banner for art exhibitions ("EXPO") can be seen on the facade. Under the name "Blegny en Art", the local cultural department regularly organizes free monthly rotating exhibitions of regional artists in this historic setting.

Directly at the Place Sainte-Gertrude (next to the church of the same name) lies the historic Ancienne halle de justice et hôtel de ville. This old courthouse and town hall building shapes the historical image of the market square and is still used today for festive occasions such as weddings. The historic building in the town center presents itself in the typical regional style of the province of Liège, built from traditional brick with characteristic limestone elements. The actual, active administration (Administration communale) is located a bit further south at Rue Troisfontaines 11. It is a functional, contemporary administrative building with glass facades that houses the municipality's citizen services.

The neo-Gothic parish church of St. Gertrud in Blegny is a historically significant house of worship that was destroyed several times in the 20th century by the World Wars and rebuilt in 1961. The place gained sad notoriety in August 1914, when German troops executed the local priest and the mayor there. Today, the church stands peacefully in the village center on the Place Sainte Gertrude.

The 'Église Sainte-Gertrude' was marked by the world wars. But people were also killed at the church at the beginning of the First World War. On the left side of the church, you can see a memorial in the outer wall commemorating the murder of, among others, the mayor and priest, who were executed against this wall on August 16, 1914. The victims: Father Labeye, Mayor André Ruwet, and Messrs. Gaspard and Léopold Hackin. Incidentally, the Germans left a trail of similar atrocities in this region, extending to Liège at the outbreak of WWI. Ironically, the notes of the murdered Father Labeye are important witnesses to the days leading up to his own death. Read them here: www.saive.be/saive_old/s_histoire_blegny.htm
