These areas once belonged to the cathedral parish. Efforts to establish the parish and build a new church were undertaken in 1950 by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Gniezno and Warsaw, Stefan Cardinal Wyszyński, Primate of Poland. The state authorities did not give their consent until 1979. Construction of the church began on August 2, 1980. The cornerstone, consecrated by Pope John Paul II, was laid on May 17, 1981 by the auxiliary bishop of Warsaw, Jerzy Modzelewski. The church was consecrated on June 12, 1982 by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Gniezno and Warsaw, Józef Cardinal Glemp, Primate of Poland, who also established a parish here on September 15, 1982. The church was built according to the design of the architect Janusz Kolberczyk. It is a hall church, with a chapel in the shape of a rotunda and elements of the Zakopane style. It was built thanks to the enormous commitment and effort of the faithful. The main altar contains a large cross and a painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa.
