Because Groot Broek is being depoldered so that the Durme River can flow freely in and out again, two new pumping stations have been built. You can see one here; the other is located near Meersstraat. The pumping stations will pump excess rainwater from the canals around Groot and Klein Broek to both areas. He replaced the altar, which had been affected by woodworm, with a stone version of his own making, on which he chiseled in relief the washing of feet during the Last Supper.
