last climb of the track from the Bago de Lesuí to the track that connects to the triador. sudden rise and be aware that if it has rained recently the ground is very clayey and it becomes a mountain of mud. Although the track is wide, it is full of streams and holes. Just as the one that goes up the slopes is comfortable and easy, this one is not so much. However, the views are worth it

The arrival from Llavorsí is amazing, long but beautiful; the descent to Espiu is almost 30 turns and is even more beautiful than being at the top. I don't want to think about what it must be like to go up there, in some areas the road surface is somewhat broken.

In summer, it can get hot on the long climb from Espui to the Triador Pass. This fresh mountain spring comes in handy about 2 km before the top of the pass.

Another option is the Climb to Collado del Triador – Triador Pass and Viewpoint loop from Bony del Tamborí, a shorter but equally demanding loop.
Due to its high-mountain location, the best time for touring cycling around Embassament de Sallente is typically from late spring through early autumn (June to September). During these months, the weather is generally more stable, and mountain passes are clear of snow. Always check local weather forecasts and road conditions before heading out, as conditions can change rapidly in the mountains.
The routes listed for Embassament de Sallente are generally classified as 'difficult' due to significant distances and considerable elevation gains. For instance, the Rialp – Rialp Castle loop from Seurí, while shorter, still involves over 600 meters of climbing. These routes are best suited for experienced touring cyclists with good fitness levels. Beginners or families with young children might find the gradients and distances too challenging.
The routes offer breathtaking high-alpine scenery. You'll cycle through landscapes shaped by glaciers, with impressive peaks like Monotorroio, Mainera, Saburó, and Peguera often in view. The area is also part of a vast hydroelectric system, so you'll see the Embassament de Sallente itself and potentially other lakes like Estany Gento, connected by an intricate network. Dry-stone walls and streams add to the picturesque character.
Yes, some routes incorporate gravel sections, adding to the adventure. For example, the View of Bago de Llessuí – Triador Pass Gravel Road loop from Seurí explicitly mentions a 'Gravel Road' in its name, indicating that a suitable touring bike capable of handling varied surfaces would be beneficial for this route.

While specific parking locations for each route are best checked on the individual tour pages, the Embassament de Sallente area, being a popular outdoor destination, generally offers parking facilities near key access points and trailheads. Look for designated parking areas near the reservoir or in nearby villages like Espot or Rialp, which serve as common starting points for many outdoor activities.
While the natural environment is appealing, the suitability for dogs depends on the specific route and local regulations. Given the challenging nature of these touring cycling routes, with significant distances and elevation, they might not be ideal for all dogs. Always ensure your dog is fit enough for the activity and check for any restrictions in protected areas or on specific trails.
The uniqueness comes from combining a dramatic high-mountain landscape with historical infrastructure. You can cycle along paths that once served an old railway line, built in 1912 for hydroelectric projects, connecting Estany Gento with the Sallente power station. This blend of natural beauty and industrial heritage, all within a no-traffic environment, offers a truly distinctive touring cycling adventure.
The routes highlighted here are specifically chosen for their 'no traffic' nature, meaning they already offer a less crowded experience compared to main roads. The high-mountain setting naturally disperses visitors, especially on longer, more challenging routes. Exploring options like the Triador Pass Gravel Road – View of Bago de Llessuí loop from Seurí can provide a sense of solitude amidst stunning scenery.
