A truly beautiful bridge to admire with its magnificent arches. Plus: a fantastic barbecue and picnic area right on the water, with a bistro (during the season) and restrooms. A prime location for a quick refreshment break and/or a swim in Lake Wohlen or the Aare.

Krummturm Solothurn The Krummturm is a medieval defensive tower in the city of Solothurn. The exact start of construction is not known, but the tower was completed in 1462/63. Although the name suggests a crooked building, this is not correct. Only the roof appears crooked from most sides. The strange roof shape is the result of the irregular pentagon of the tower's floor plan. On the lowest floor there is a 10-meter-deep dungeon in which criminals were once imprisoned. If historical walls could speak, they would have a lot to tell. This includes the Krummturm legend - a tragic love story between the carpenter and the builder's daughter. Murten Castle dates back to the time of Count Peter II of Savoy (1255). Under the portal from 1516, which was rebuilt several times and in its current form dates from 1755, there was a cistern that is now only marked in the paving. The large, square tower, the so-called keep or "Luegisland", was used by Adrian von Bubenberg to monitor the events during the battle. While the castle was previously the residence of the mayors or was used as a hospital, barracks and prison, it is now the seat of the senior office of the Fribourg lake district. The Murten Classics take place in the castle courtyard every August and September. (https://fribourg.ch/de/regionmurtensee/architektur-und-denkmaeler/schloss-murten/)
