Around Lake Murten: lots of nature, but also the smell of pesticides from fields and vineyards. Good test for our ebikes: on Mont Vully it's a steep climb. Fantastic view over lakes and mountains

Nice quiet family outing around Lake Murten on a Pentecost Monday.👌😉

Following route # 480 around Lake Murten with a detour to Avanches. Unfortunately, most of the path leads along the road, with no view of the lake. Only when you drive up to Mount Vully do you have a beautiful view of the lake and into the distance.

Nice outing as a couple, despite sunless weather for a walk around Lake Morat, taking advantage of the Chablais area, a marshy place at the end of the lake towards Morat, taking as much as possible the small paths serving very pretty places.😉

Nice tour with the e-bike around Lake Murten. With historical highlights. Today we took Lake Murten "under our wheels" again. However, we have already cycled the usual classic around the lake several times. To make today's tour a little more exciting, we included the Avanches archaeological site and Mont Vully. We started at the large parking lot by the lake in Murten and first cycled through the pretty old town before heading towards Avanches. The path does not lead along the lake, but is completely relaxed and virtually car-free, slightly elevated through beautiful fields, forests and small sleepy villages. However, you often have a beautiful view of the lake. We were surprised by the impressive east gate of the former city wall of Avanches. It gives you an idea of how enormous the structure must have been. At this point you are still about a kilometer away from Avances. I had never seen the massive gate before. The amphitheater in the middle of Avanches is not very big, but nice to look at. Especially from above, where you can see it completely. Avanches itself is somewhat similar to the town of Murten, but is much smaller and less touristy. You should take some time to explore it. Among other things, there is a pretty castle that we only discovered as we continued on. The traverse to the other side of the lake follows, mainly along a cycle path. Here is the village of Salavaux, which is known for the longest sandy beach in Seeland. We hadn't planned to go there today. Instead of lazing around and chilling, the sweaty climb up Mont Vully begins here. At first relatively steep, then flatter but several kilometers long. On this route you have a beautiful view over the lake, all the way to the Alps. Well, not today, the mountains were covered in storm clouds. Now and then you could see the lightning and hear the thunder. At the top of Mont Vully there is a large car park and there are a few benches to sit on and enjoy the view. Because a thunderstorm was approaching quickly, we decided against it and quickly rushed down the road towards Murten. Just as we entered Murten, after a few strong gusts of wind, it caught up with us. Instead of the planned culinary treat on a cozy, sunny garden terrace, we had to mount the bikes on the rack as the rain began to fall and wait in the car for the rather heavy rain to pass. Then we walked into town, wet but not dripping wet. A sweet reward in a pretty little cafe was a must. The circuit is not difficult to cycle. The scenery is very beautiful. You "cover" almost all of the altitude at the end, which means you should have a minimum level of fitness. With electricity, however, it is totally easy. When the weather is nice, there are plenty of nice restaurants along the way where you can get something to eat or just relax. We liked this route better than the classic one directly along the lake.

Also a beautiful tradition: Cycling cozily around Lake Murten with my beloved. Sounds romantic, right? 🌅 If only my spectacular performance during picnic preparations hadn't happened… one wrong move, a dramatic CRACK – and voilà, my back decided to take center stage today. 🎭💥 Now the big question: Can I still get on my bike? 🤔 Stuffed with medication 💊 and a good dose of goodwill (and maybe some stubbornness), it should be possible. After all, I won't let a rebellious back ruin the tradition! 😤🚴‍♂️ Easter may be over, but the beautifully decorated Easter fountains of Vully are still there – practically as moral support for my back. 🐣🌷 Being out with friends also helps, of course – laughter is known to be the best medicine (right after painkillers). 😂 Picnic on Mont Vully: simply fantastic! 🧀🥖 Wonderful view, good company – and I'm moving about as carefully as a freshly assembled Ikea shelf. 😅 Next stop: Murten! 🏘️ A little breather, a little complaining (quietly, of course 😇), and then it's back to Avenches to the car. 🏁 Conclusion A bit of pain, a lot of humor, and even more beautiful moments – that's probably what a slightly improvised tradition looks like. ❤️ And who knows… maybe "Crack Day" will also become a new, permanent memory. 😄
