The Obermühle is a wonderful building. Nestled in a valley and surrounded by history (Roman kilns and, a dark part of history concerning witch hunts). It is a listed building and dates from the 15th century, but was operated until the 1970s. The building is private, but there is also a holiday apartment there: https://www.obermuehle-traiser.de/

It is a large sandstone sculpture, unfortunately the ravages of time are clearly visible here.

Old, abandoned railway tracks. Fascinating! These tracks (presumably) belonged to the Phrix-Werke; that large industrial complex, or rather the present-day industrial monument in Okriftel directly on the Main. Parts of it are listed as a monument and are currently being redeveloped with residential and commercial spaces. The Phrix-Werke or its predecessor was founded in 1884 as a cellulose and paper factory and later also produced synthetic fiber precursors. At times, over 1000 employees were employed at the site. Due to the necessary precursors such as wood or pulp, chemicals (chlorine, lye, etc.) and fuels, as well as for the transport of finished products, a rail connection was practically indispensable - in addition to the Main as a transport route. Today, the tracks bear witness to Okriftel's industrial past, which turned a farming village into an industrial site.

Quickly overlooked, but a fantastic example of how nature reclaims its territory.

It must be beautiful by the Main River in summer. Bleak in winter.
