The small chapel on Obermainstraße in Flörsheim am Main is the historic Christ-König Chapel. It marks a historically significant site in the town center, as the old Obertor (upper gate) of the historic Flörsheim town fortifications once stood at this exact spot on Obermainstraße. The former town wall, dating back to the Middle Ages, ran directly behind the adjacent properties of Grabenstraße and ended at this point. The small chapel standing there today, built in the Neo-Romanesque style, is closely linked in local consciousness with urban history, as it represents a preserved religious and historical element outside the core old town. It borders directly on the historic intersection area with Bahnhofstraße and Grabenstraße and serves as a firm anchor for the identity and conservation tradition of the Flörsheim town center.

Historical origin: The small, idyllic country chapel is a listed cultural monument and bears the year 1741. It thus dates directly from the mid-18th century and testifies to the deep-rooted Baroque folk piety in the region. Location on the cycle path: The chapel is located directly on the busy cycle and hiking route between the Flörsheim town area and the Keramag-Falkenberg settlement. It is situated not far from the historical lime kilns and the transition to the Hochheim vineyards on the Main cycle path (R3). Significance and furnishings: As a place for quiet prayer and a short rest, it traditionally houses a namesake Fatima saint figure and floral decorations inside. Through a two-winged lattice door, passing cyclists and walkers can catch a glimpse of the small altar.

With a total length of 527 kilometers, the Main is the longest right-hand tributary of the Rhine and flows as a lifeline through the heart of the entire Rhine-Main region. It officially originates near Kulmbach in Bavaria through the confluence of its two source rivers, the Red Main and the White Main. On its westward journey, the river winds in characteristic loops through Franconia and Hesse, past major metropolises such as Würzburg, Offenbach, and Frankfurt, before finally flowing into the Rhine near Mainz-Kastel (opposite Mainz). For the region, the Main holds immense economic importance as a major shipping route, as it forms a continuous waterway from the North Sea to the Black Sea via the Main-Danube Canal. In addition to its industrial role, the river has been transformed over the past decades into one of the most important areas for local recreation and culture. Kilometers of green spaces stretch along its banks, such as the Frankfurt Mainufer or the promenades in Rüsselsheim and Höchst, offering space for sports, gastronomy, and relaxation. The popular, largely flat Main Cycle Path accompanies the river along its entire length, connecting historic old towns, wine regions, and modern cityscapes. Furthermore, the river significantly shapes the region's climate and nature and serves as a habitat for numerous protected water birds and fish species.

The „Quintuplet” at the southwest entrance of Verna Park (near Palais Verna on Frankfurter Straße) is a striking metal sculpture by Rüsselsheim artist Uwe Wenzel, which was officially inaugurated in December 2023. The artwork depicts a detailed replica of a historic five-seater bicycle (tandem for five people). The four-meter-long model was crafted from blackened stainless steel, while the saddles, pedals, and handlebars are made of brownish-patinated bronze. To create an everyday, almost accidental impression, the rideable art object is seemingly unsecured, leaning against a specially installed stainless steel lantern that illuminates the object from above at night. Behind the monument lies a famous anecdote from Rüsselsheim's industrial history: the artwork is inspired by the historic five-seater bicycle of the Opel family. Before automobile production, Opel was one of the largest bicycle manufacturers in the world. A legendary advertising photo from 1898 shows the five sons of the company founder Adam Opel – Carl, Wilhelm, Heinrich, Fritz, and Ludwig (all successful racing cyclists) – together on exactly such a Quintuplet. The sculpture today serves as a charming street art memorial, recalling the city's founder era's passion for cycling, while also functioning as the official starting point for the Rüsselsheim cycling route „Kunst am Weg“ (Art along the Way).

The Mainstein in Flörsheim is an approximately four-meter-high pillar made of red Main sandstone, which was erected directly on the bank of the Main River in 1984. The monument was designed by master stonemason Rainer Uhl and is to be understood as a kind of "stone chronicle" of the town of Flörsheim. It consists of several superimposed blocks, which show detailed reliefs on all four sides. At the very top of the column sits the Harlequin, a jester figure that represents the great importance of the Flörsheim Carnival. The reliefs below tell the history and traditions of the town: one sees scenes of fishing and shipping, which previously formed the basis of life on the Main, as well as depictions of viticulture and agriculture. Religious and historical events are also immortalized, such as the procession to the "Verlobten Tag" (Betrothed Day), which dates back to a vow made during a plague in 1666. Particularly charming is the attention to detail in the depictions, which also include animals such as geese, pointing to the rural past. The stone is placed so that it is immediately noticeable to walkers on the towpath and, as a striking landmark, symbolizes the citizens' connection to their river and their history.
