Flooding has occurred twice in the Assel harbor and the surrounding community in recent years. The first time was on: February 17, 1962 with devastating consequences. The second time was on: January 3, 1976 also with devastating consequences.

New seating areas have been beautifully installed, right by the water. The harbor is currently undergoing cleanup and renovation. A hike or bike ride is highly recommended and very interesting 👍🏼.
