A wonderful place to linger by the harbor. Great food and very well-designed seating, as well as the floral decorations and surrounding fairy lights. A wonderful sight to behold and highly recommended.

The inner harbor can be reached from the outer harbor through a barrier. Depending on the water level, it is opened two and a half to two hours before high tide for about two hours. If the heavy barrier gates are closed, you can walk from one side of the harbor to the other.

Six people were executed in the courtyard of the Glückstadt prison and madhouse, most recently the eight-time murderer Timm Thode on May 13, 1868. He had killed his parents, his five siblings and the maid on the night of August 8, 1866. To cover his tracks, he set fire to and burned the family farm.
