November 13, 2023, Puckpool Battery

This old barracks at Puckpool is an interesting place to run through if you are running along the coast between Ryde and Seaview. In complete contrast to its history as a mortar battery, a children's playground now sits within it.

St Helen's Old Church is an intriguing piece of 800 year old history. Although now little more than the tower remains, it watches over this lovely calm beach, popular with families, paddleboarders and kayakers. The seaward side is painted white and acts as a navigational aid for seafarers. There is even a concrete WW2 pillbox built into the church.

Cyclists will have to push their cycles over this causeway due to the rough surface, narrow width and steps.
