The Riverscene Trail derives its name from the numerous breathtaking views along the Meramec River. It's widely acclaimed as offering the most spectacular vistas within Castlewood State Park. The best views are found in the northern section of the trail, owing to its elevated position. The southern part meanders around a forested hillside, making for a nice diversity.

This trail provides a woodland excursion through the beautiful forest within the boundaries of the City of Wildwood. The trail is wide, paved and perfect for running. The elevation is higher further away from the river, and lower as you get closer, creating a nice challenge on the legs. You'll get lovely views of the river as you move toward the southern end of the trail.

This is a great woodland trail for running. There are some gentle inclines and declines throughout to keep the legs working, and really beautiful fall colours if visiting in the autumn months. There can be some rough terrain through the forest with rocks and roots in places, so wear supportive sneakers and mind your footing.

The Lone Wolf Trail is right in the heart of Castlewood State Park. The trail shares a path with the Riverscene Trail very briefly near an observation deck and also offers some views of its own along the path. The loop has a number of trail intersections with other paths in the park, but they are mostly well-marked and easy to follow.
