This route was planned by komoot.
In 2015, on one of my 7 trips to England, I was poorly prepared and looked for visible remains of Hadrian's Wall. I was only aware that remains could be seen in a nearly uninhabited area west of Hexham. Coincidentally, I then quickly came across the Steel Rigg cliffs and the "Robin Hood tree" Sycamore Gap. Tired and still without komoot 😊 I contented myself with the view, visited the Arbela forts in South Shields and Vindolanda and decided to visit again. Today was the day of return. Equipped with komoot and a good weather forecast, Steel Rigg was reached after a one-hour drive from Washington. Instead of the predicted 17 degrees and sun, however, there were 13 degrees, strong wind, drizzle and downpours. However, the fascinating, majestic solitude of the area and the Radio BOB Classic Rock live stream, which is running as always, made us forget these difficulties. The length of the entire Hadrian`s Wall Path https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hadrian%E2%80%99s_Wall_Path is 135 KM. However, only in this area between Greenhead and Chollerford is it scenically spectacular.
