Wooden Forest Spirit Sculpture on Wichmannpromenade

A funny forest spirit now protects the Wichmannpromenade in the south of Eisenach. After the final finishing work, this large wooden figure now welcomes the numerous hikers on the Wichmannpromenade in the Mariental. Last year a larch tree was felled for safety reasons. At that time, the regional forestry administration was already planning to commission the forest worker Uwe Büchner to create a sculpture.
The dedicated forest worker is a virtuoso with the motor chainsaw and is known to many people in the Wartburg region. "I am always amazed at how Uwe, with creativity and precision, creates a living work of art from a seemingly dead piece of wood," says forestry department manager Ansgar Pape, praising his employee the highest notes. A hike through the Dragon Gorge is beautiful and highly recommended. Very varied and exciting, especially for children! The narrowest part of the gorge is 68 cm wide - but only for a very short distance.
