The large „A“ on a ten-meter-high rock face at the northern entrance to the Drachenschlucht stands for Anna Pawlowna, the sister of the former Weimar Grand Duchess Maria Pawlowna. Contrary to a common assumption, the letter therefore does not mean „beginning“.
