    Hiking

The word Parterre comes from French (par terre = "on the ground"). In classical garden design, a "Grand Parterre" is understood as a very large, flat, and geometrically laid-out garden area (broderie or lawn parterre), usually located directly in front of a palace. In Schönbrunn Palace, this is how the famous French garden in the palace park, lined with 32 mythological statues, is referred to.
