In 1970, Louis Zimmer became an honorary citizen of Lier.
The Zimmertoren is by far the most famous tourist attraction in Lier!
The former Corneliustoren from the 13th century, part of the old city walls, was converted into the Zimmertoren in 1930. Zimmer donated the Jubelklok to the city of Lier in honor of Belgium's 100th anniversary.
