The monument from 1980 symbolizes the merger of Brecht, Sint-Job and Sint-Lenaarts in 53 figures. From a round flattened monolith of twelve tons, artist Jan Keustermans from Schilde sculpted 53 figures from the three sub-municipalities. They refer to landscapes, professions, guilds and church life, among other things. The mayor who performs a civil marriage fits into that last theme.

This monument was designed by sculptor J.Keustermans in 1980.
Since the merger of 1977, St-Job and St-Lenaarts joined the municipality of Brecht. St-Antonius, on the other hand, became part of the municipality of Zoersel.
The territory of the 3 merged municipalities bordered each other and made the merger somewhat easier.
In honor of this important merger, the Merger Monument was exhibited in the municipal park just opposite the entrance to the town hall from 1980 onwards
