The church of Santa Maria Assunta (also known as the Mother Church ), is the main church of Mottola . Until 27 June 1818 it was the cathedral of the Diocese of Mottola.
The church dates back to the 12th century. It has striking similarities in facade architecture with the churches of Laterza and Ostuni.
