    Running

The Ramblin' Trail is a favorite among Moab mountain bikers, but is also an excellent place for a stellar run through the desert. This rolling trail is mostly on slickrock and packed dirt, but there are a few sandy spots. There are truly amazing views pretty much the entire time on this exposed and open trail. Blazes are painted on the slickrock so it is hard to get lost.

Embark on the Rocky Tops and Ramblin' Loop, a moderate jogging route spanning 8.5 miles (13.7 km) with a total elevation gain of 633 feet (193 metres). You can expect to complete this loop in about 1 hour and 41 minutes. As you jog, you will navigate through a dynamic desert landscape, encountering numerous Navajo sandstone domes and extensive slickrock sections, interspersed with stretches of sand. The route offers consistent ups and downs, providing a rewarding workout amidst unique scenery.

This trail is located within the Navajo Rocks Mountain Bike Area, so you should be aware of mountain bikers sharing the path. The terrain is varied and can be demanding, but the route is clearly marked with green paint on the slickrock surfaces to help guide your way. If you plan to extend your run to the full Navajo Rocks loop, a clockwise direction is often recommended for a smoother experience.

This loop immerses you in the stunning desert environment of Utah, offering panoramic views that rival those found in nearby national parks. Keep an eye out for excellent vistas of Lone Mesa, the distinctive Monitor and Merrimack buttes, and the majestic La Sal mountains in the distance. The unique geology of the area, characterized by its sandstone formations, makes this a memorable jogging destination.
