    Hiking

After exiting Park Avenue canyon, you get fantastic views of three prominent features to the northwest of you: (in order from left to right, facing north) The Three Gossips, Sheep Rock, and the Tower of Babel. This is a great place to snap a few photos before hitting the Three Gossips and Courthouse Towers Viewpoint because you cannot see the road from here.

The Park Avenue Trail offers an easy hike through a dramatic landscape, perfect for an introduction to Arches National Park. As you descend into the canyon, you will find yourself surrounded by immense sandstone monoliths that resemble natural skyscrapers. The route winds through a corridor flanked by these towering formations, providing unique perspectives on landmarks like The Three Gossips and the Tower of Babel. This easy 2.1-mile (3.3 km) hike involves a 275-foot (84 metres) elevation gain and typically takes around 57 minutes to complete.

When planning your visit, you can hike this trail as an out-and-back or arrange for a one-way shuttle. Starting from the south trailhead means an initial descent with stairs, while beginning from the north end involves a gradual uphill climb. Parking is available at both the Park Avenue parking area and the Courthouse Towers viewpoint, offering flexibility for your starting point. Consider which direction best suits your preference for elevation changes.

This trail is notable for its unique geological features, showcasing the sheer scale of the park's natural architecture. The experience of walking among these colossal sandstone formations provides an immersive sense of the desert environment. It serves as an excellent starting point to appreciate the distinctive beauty and grandeur that Arches National Park is known for, setting the stage for further exploration.
