The chapel 'Demal' is located on the corner of Opheimstraat and Leeuwerstraat (the road to Leeuw, the current Zoutleeuw), slightly above the level of the sunken road. It was built in 1932 by the Demal family, then living in Steenstraat, to heal their sick father and husband. The chapel was logically dedicated to Our Lady for the Saving of the Sick. They were able to experience in close family and friends to what extent the intense prayers contributed to the healing process of their sick family member.
