Embark on the Cookham and Cock Marsh Walk, an easy hiking route that guides you through diverse scenery. You'll follow tranquil riverside paths along the River Thames, then venture into lush meadows and chalk grassland slopes. A key highlight is the panoramic view from Winter Hill, offering expansive vistas across the Thames Valley towards Marlow and Bourne End. This pleasant hike covers 3.8 miles (6.1 km) with a gentle elevation gain of 85 feet (26 metres), making it an easy outing that typically takes about 1 hour and 33 minutes to complete.

Before you set out, be aware that certain sections of the trail, including a wooden boardwalk, can get very muddy and wet. This is especially true during winter months due to potential flooding, so it's wise to wear sturdy, waterproof walking boots. If you plan to bring your dog, remember that cattle graze on Cock Marsh from April to November; during these months, you should keep your dog on a lead to ensure their safety and respect the livestock.

This trail is situated within the Maidenhead and Cookham Commons, an area known for its natural beauty. The region is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, protecting rare plant species and providing a habitat for local wildlife. Keep an eye out for red kites often soaring overhead, adding to the scenic charm of this unique landscape.
