Capitol Hill brings runners up close to the U.S. Capitol's grand neoclassical architecture and massive dome. The Capitol grounds have landscaped gardens, statues, and monuments an is on the east end of The National Mall, with great views of the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. The Capitol Reflecting Pool is great for photo opportunities.

Union Square is an 11-acre plaza open to the public. In the 1930s the National Park Service took jurisdiction over the green space. Later on, and to this day the Jurisdiction was changed to the "the Architect of the Capitol".
