Step into a world of giants on the Tall Trees Trail Circular, a moderate hike that leads you through impressive rows of towering redwoods and Douglas firs. This 5.1-mile (8.3 km) route offers a unique forest experience, where you'll gain 243 feet (74 metres) in elevation over approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes. As you wander, you'll discover the serene atmosphere of the arboretum, showcasing diverse tree collections.
Planning your visit is straightforward, with parking available near the trailhead. However, this is a popular route, so arriving early is a good idea, especially during peak times. The trail consists mostly of dirt and gravel surfaces, which are generally accessible, but be prepared for sections that can become very muddy or even flooded during winter or after heavy rain.
This trail is notable for its historic tree plantings, with many of the giant specimens dating back to the late 1850s. You'll pass through the Rhinefield Ornamental Drive and might even spot Roe Deer meandering among the trees. The route also features natural sights like Dead Trees Marsh, adding to the varied landscape of the New Forest National Park.
