Mountain biking

The hydroelectric power station of Villa Castelli, located in c.da “Battaglia”, exploits the difference in height of about 120 meters existing between the loading chamber of Montefellone and the damping chamber of Contrada Battaglia. To produce electricity, the natural kinetic energy caused by the water jump is exploited, through the installation of a turbine downstream. The Villa Castelli hydroelectric plant is at the forefront from a technical and management point of view. Fully automated, it is also equipped with a remote control and remote control system.

This power plant, which already existed in 1929, produced electricity until 1971. Since March 16, 2009, almost 40 years later, thanks to the use of new technologies and the commitment of the Apulian Aqueduct, it is back in operation. as part of a Plan of the A.Q.P. which provides for the full implementation of 10 hydroelectric plants that exploit the water jumps
