The St. George Monastery in Pomorie was built on the site of the former estate of the Turkish feodal Selim Beij, who ruled the surrounding lands. The present St. George Monastery Church was built on the foundations of an old church. It contains icons of the highest artistic value dating from the 18th and early 19th centuries.

The Monastery of St. George in Pomorie is a charming peaceful place. It is an active orthodox monastery with monks in residence.
Part of the complex is the church of the monastery from 19th c. with nice and rare icons inside.
We will not miss the destilery of the monastery where the monks produce wine and rakia.
The main attraction of the complex is the belltower with the holy water. It is believed that the water is curative and it cured the first Abbot in the monastery. Would you like to hear his story? Come for a visit then!
