The popularly called "Tatzelwurm" bridge over the Main-Danube Canal at Essing was until 2006 the longest wooden bridge in Europe with a length of 190 meters.
The striking architecture is worth seeing and the crossing by bike is in a good mood.

This unusual wooden bridge has a striking architecture and is a strap bridge. At 193 meters in length, it is one of the longest wooden bridges in Europe. Absolutely worth seeing!

The wooden bridge near Essing is a strap bridge that leads pedestrians and cyclists across the Main-Danube Canal at Essing near Kelheim. Built after seven years of planning in 1986, the bridge was at 189.91 meters the longest wooden bridge in Europe, until it was replaced in 2006 by the dragon tail in Ronneburg.
