Admont Abbey is a Benedictine monastery located in the high alpine valley of the Enze River in the Austrian town of Admont. It is the oldest and only surviving monastery in Styria, it contains the largest monastery library in the world and extensive natural science and art collections. It is known especially for its baroque architecture. The location of the abbey is on the border of the mountainous Gesäuse National Park. The name Admont derives either from the Latin expression Ad montes, i.e. "in the mountains", or from the Slavic expression for a gurgling stream, which was a tributary of Enže Adamons in this locality.
