Xigia Sulfur Beach (also spelled Xygia) is located on the northeast coast of the island. The beach is famous as a natural sulfur bath. Due to sulfur springs flowing directly into the bay from neighboring sea caves, the water gets a characteristic milky-turquoise color. A distinct smell of sulfur (similar to rotten eggs) is in the air. The sulfur- and mineral-rich water is attributed therapeutic properties that can help with skin problems, muscle and joint pain, and arthritis.

The striking church of Katastari is known for its exceptional pink and white checkered masonry, which is why it is often referred to as the "Chocolate Box Church". The church is located in the village of Katastari, the largest village on the island, situated slightly inland above the resort of Alykes. It is characterized by an elegant bell tower with clocks and a well-kept forecourt area that almost resembles a small amphitheater.

Marathonisi is an uninhabited island in the marine national park of Zakynthos. It lies about two kilometers off the coast in the Bay of Laganas. The island owes its nickname to two special features: 1. Viewed from a distance or from the air, the island's silhouette resembles a swimming turtle. 2. The sandy beach of Marathonisi is an important nesting site for the endangered loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta).

The ancient olive tree in the village of Exo Chora is estimated to be over 2,000 years old. It is considered the oldest and largest olive tree on the island of Zakynthos. The tree is known for its massive, gnarled trunk, which has split into two main branches over the centuries. Right next to the tree stands a monument commemorating historical events of the region. Although this tree is often referred to as one of the oldest in the world, there are other monumental olive trees in Greece (especially on Crete), such as the tree of Vouves, whose age is estimated to be between 3,000 and 4,000 years.

The Aristeon Olive Oil Museum (often also referred to as Aristeon Ecological Olive Press) is a popular excursion destination in the village of Lithakia, offering visitors an insight into the history and modern production of olive oil on the island. In the outdoor and indoor areas of the museum, you can view original equipment and techniques for olive oil production, such as grinding stones from the French Alps. In addition to the historical exhibits, the museum also showcases the modern technology used today for the production of high-quality olive oil. A central part of the visit is the tasting of various olive oils (e.g., with lemon or garlic) along with homemade bread and olives. The produced oils, as well as olive oil cosmetic products, can be purchased directly on-site. Admission and guided tours are free. Opening hours: Daily from 09:00 to 19:00.

If it smells like rotten eggs here, it's not sewage but sulfur that's seeping out and also turning the water steel blue.
