For the beavers, a hard time is now beginning because the Schlangenbach no longer carries water. So they have to bathe in the Stadtweiher. The stream usually carries little water and during floods it carries a lot of wood or debris and deposits it along the way. Also at the treadle pool.

I rarely cycle on this cycle path and was happy to hear that there are active beaver sites in Kempten. What do they do with the huge tree stumps and shavings? They probably don't need firewood for their lodges. At some point, I will hike along the Schlangenbach and look for feeding trees. Tree bark is said to taste delicious. I have a night vision and infrared camera and will do a night shift when it's warmer. Maybe I'll see a beaver.

I live in Kempten, and the city center can be described as ugly because the historic buildings have been torn down. You'll find many small signs there advising you to go to Memmingen, Leutkirch, or Wangen instead.
