Rio nell'Elba is one of the oldest hilltop villages on the Island of Elba, located on the north-eastern side at about 180 meters above sea level. Since 2018, it has been merged with Rio Marina into the Municipality of Rio. The village retains its strong medieval imprint, with narrow alleys, steep staircases, and picturesque little squares that tell of a centuries-old tradition linked to iron extraction.

For me as a normal mountain biker, it's not possible to go uphill! Normal cyclists should stay on the main road.

it is better to go down to Porto Azzurro and go back up to go to Monserrato, from here you can get there but then it is difficult to go down
