In the background is the old air base. Sometimes you can still see planes there.

The tower was for sale for a long time - despite the good view from the top, nobody wanted it.

This is a really beautiful, old church. The adjacent cemetery also has a great atmosphere. If you have the time, you should take a look at it.

On the Bohnenburg side of the Old Harbor is the old, historic Hooksiel mudder boat. It was in use in Hooksiel from 1837 to the 1950s. In earlier times, there was a mudder boat in front of every outer harbor of a sluice. It cleaned the access channel of silt. To do this, the boat went aground at low tide and then large wings were folded out on both sides. The force of the water that was dammed behind the sluice gate pushed the boat towards the sea. In doing so, it cleared the access channel to the harbor.
