In view of the (in the worst sense of the word, 'burning') current headlines from the past month about the devastating fire in the Hürtgenwald (North Rhine-Westphalia, DE) and the not far from here (Belgian) 'Hohes Venn', the scale of which has so far reached unimaginable dimensions in the cross-border region, I recommend to nature-interested viewers a film documentary in the ZDF media library: A episode from the series »plan b« – titled "Forest protection in the climate crisis" – examines the background to the condition of our native forests and asks urgent questions. The contribution is available online at =>> https://www.zdf.de/play/dokus/plan-b-104/plan-b-waldschutz-in-der-klimakrise-100?staffel=2023

At 876 meters, Tupi Medveđak is the middle of the three mountains of the Medveđak ridge. One of the oldest paths in the park leads to it. As early as 1894, a trail to its summit was created for visitors to the Plitvice Lakes. When the beech trees are bare in the colder seasons, a fantastic view of the park's cascading lakes opens up to you. In summer, it is significantly quieter up here than down by the water.
