We headed to the must-see of every visit to Croatia right at the beginning of our vacation: the Plitvice Lakes National Park.

The Plitvice Lakes were declared Croatia's first national park in 1949 and were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.

Plitvice national park is a beautiful and popular destination. There are several way marked routes through the national park. We explored the different levels of lakes and the waterfalls that connect them on a lovely afternoon. Can easily spend a whole day here. There is also quite a bit of wildlife. We even saw a snake in the water.
