The oak's circumference was measured in 2018 and is 6.95 m. The oak tree grows near the Greek Catholic Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary (built in 1859). Its trunk is divided into three main branches, one of which is broken quite low. A significant portion of the bark is missing from the side of this branch, and the interior of the entire tree is likely rotten. The oak tree was designated a natural monument in 1980, along with another specimen growing in front of the church (with a circumference of 581 cm - according to the CRFOP database). A tree gnawed by beavers is growing, or rather drying up, by the bike path along the San, near Rybickiego Street. The tree is far enough from the San that even if it were turned over towards the river, it would not reach the water and would not fulfill the beavers' favorite task of building a dam. It's a pity about the tree. The protective netting did not help. WW

The special character of the place is given by two centuries-old oaks, called Cyryl and Methodius by the locals, which according to dendrologists are 800 and 700 years old respectively. During World War II, when the German-Soviet border existed on the San, the Cyryl oak served the Germans as an observation tower. The official name of the open-air museum is the Museum of Folk Architecture in Sanok (MBL). It covers a vast area on the right bank of the San River, limited from the north by a high escarpment, on which the Biała Góra housing estate is located, and from the east by the forested area of the Słonne Mountains. A great attraction is the Galician Market Square, where various occasional events are organized, e.g. before the holidays. The open-air museum lives according to its own calendar and is eagerly visited not only by tourists but also by the residents of Sanok. On the open-air museum area, divided into geographical and cultural sectors, you can visit many wooden buildings and see their equipment. The resourcefulness of the residents of that time, who were able to live and support their families in very modest conditions, without electricity, running water, gas and so many devices that we cannot imagine life without today, is admirable. The oil sector is a separate attraction. To get a better understanding of the range of objects gathered here, it is best to use the services of a guide. WW

A long-awaited investment, which is the development of the riverside boulevard, on the section between the Białogórski Bridge and the Carrefour supermarket car park. An asphalt path has been built, passing under the bridge. It is a pity that the path ends right after the bridge and there is a sharp right turn uphill onto a path paved with cobblestones, bypassing the car park on the side of the bridge. It is almost begging to continue the cycle path upstream of the San, as much as the terrain and development allow, to the car park at the Kaufland supermarket and further - to the newly built suspension bridge. Behind the church and the monument of Saint John Paul II, the flat area ends and a very steep cliff begins, falling into the San valley. For the safety of tourists, the edge of the slope is fenced with a solid barrier. Beware of children who may try to get behind the barrier. On the left, between the tree branches, you can see the historic center of Sanok located on a hill, and below you can see the river Sam and sometimes you can see a kayak or a pontoon. A convenient place for a break in silence, after overcoming the uphill stretch on the road from Sanok to Biała Góra. WW
