The bar has existed for 43 years and offers Polish cuisine. Open from 9 am to 6 pm, sometimes earlier and longer if there are customers, from Monday to Sunday. We ordered pierogi with meat (10 pcs for 30 zł) and with blueberries and cream (same price and quantity). Tasty, large, but relatively expensive. You can eat pierogi with meat much cheaper at the SMAK bar in Sanok (19 zł) or in Zarszyn at the Gospodzie Karpackiej (23 zł for 12 pcs). WW

When visiting the center of Lesko, it is impossible to miss the confectioneries run for years by the Szelców family. There are two located near each other, on opposite sides of the Market Square. This one is historically the oldest and the most difficult to find, as it is located in an old corner tenement house, slightly off the beaten path. People used to come here for ice cream and cakes from Lesko, when no one even dreamed that the Słodki Domek Szelców, banquet halls, and a hotel built on the road leading to Sanok (DK84) would ever be established. The current interior of the old confectionery in no way resembles the original. About two years ago, the premises were significantly expanded, combining the former shop and café into one, with entrances leading from different sides of the building. Here you can eat something sweet without waiting in the long queue that forms in season, especially on weekends, at Słodki Domek. If someone arrives by car or motorcycle, the paid parking zone in the center of Lesko does not apply on Saturdays and Sundays. WW

Very interesting to look at and of absolute historical value. However, the entrance is very inconspicuous.

Today we were back at Patiseria Szelców in Lesko. For an early afternoon on a Saturday during peak season, it was fantastic – no lines, and few people inside. I sat down near the pastry display and counted 37 different varieties, not counting the adjacent displays of cakes, doughnuts, tortes, cocktails, and desserts. For a patisserie in southern Podkarpacie, the selection is staggering! The selection of scooped ice cream is much more limited, with only six flavors, but delicious and at 6 złoty per scoop, cheaper than many places in the region. Friendly service, and you can pay by card. Anyone who doesn't like waiting in line at "Słodki Domek" Szelców on the outskirts of Lesko, where the saleswomen can barely keep up with the crowd of sweet tooths, should definitely check it out. 😀 WW

Patiseria (new word to me) according to Wikipedia is a confectionery, a confectionery shop combined with a confectionery factory. Patiseria Szelców in Lesko opened 3 weeks ago. You can enter it from two sides - from the market and from the courtyard. Open: Mon-Fri 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Saturdays 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Sundays 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Compared to "Słodki Domek Szelców" on the exit road towards Sanok, there are very few people here and sales take place without a queue. The reason may be the lack of parking spaces in the center of Lesko. The saleswoman indirectly confirmed this, saying that the customers are mainly locals. WW

With great surprise, I read the information from the County Office in Lesko, placed on the entrance gate to the castle, that from January 9, 2023, this facility is unavailable. The city's main tourist attraction is unavailable?! I don't understand.

Absolutely. Gmina Lesko offers numerous viewpoints. You can find scenic spots like the View of Lake Myczkowskie and the Heart on Suchy Berd Hill, or general viewpoints overlooking the lakes and mountains. Korbania also offers panoramic views of the Bieszczady region from its tower, accessible via trails.
While specific public transport routes to every trailhead can vary, Lesko itself is a central point in the gmina. Local bus services connect various towns and villages, which may provide access to some trail starting points. For more remote trails, driving or local taxi services might be necessary.
While popular spots can see more visitors, gmina Lesko offers a wide array of trails, many of which provide a peaceful hiking experience. The extensive network of paths, especially within the Słonne Mountains Landscape Park, allows for finding quieter routes away from the main tourist hubs, ensuring a serene family outing.
Many of the easier, flatter sections along the San River or within town parks, like the Aleja Krasickich, Lesko loop from gmina Lesko, may be suitable for strollers. However, for most designated hiking trails, especially those with natural surfaces, uneven terrain, or slight inclines, a baby carrier is generally recommended over a stroller for comfort and safety.
