Rafał Klisowski
August 31, 2025, Church of Our Lady Queen of Poland in Kurzeszyn

The parish in Kurzeszyn was established in 1512. The first wooden church, dedicated to St. Catherine, was founded and endowed by one of the Masovian princes. Another church, also wooden and bearing the same name, was built in 1607 by Bishop Paweł Wołucki of Łuck. He consecrated it in 1616. The church had six altars. A visitation record from 1762 shows that it was pastored by two priests: a parish priest and a vicar, and that the church was already "overworked." However, it was not until 1853 that it was renovated. In 1914, during the military operations of the Battle of Rawka, the church burned down. Between 1922 and 1924, the current brick church, dedicated to St. Catherine, was built from donations from parishioners. The Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Poland, which was consecrated in 1931 by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Warsaw, Aleksander Cardinal Kakowski.

The first mention of a church in the village of Jeruzal dates back to 1290. In 1603, there was a wooden church in the settlement, dedicated to St. Nicholas. In 1630, another wooden church was built in the settlement. The modern church was built opposite the church from 1630, on the site of the former cemetery, where, among others, former owners of the village are buried. The church has a baroque-classicist character, its construction was supervised by a certain Antoni Garczyński. It is a brick temple, single-nave, has a two-story façade divided by wall pillars and semi-columns. The main portal and two internal portals are built in the classicist style. The interior furnishings of the church are also mainly classicist (the main altar and two side altars, the pulpit, the baptismal font). The church also has a richly decorated, 18th-century chandelier.

The current historic manor house in Nowy Dwór (Skierniewice district, Łódź province) is a relatively late building from the interwar period. It was built on the site of an older small manor house that was destroyed during World War I. The striking, fragmented appearance is a typical feature of the Polish manor style.
