A small section of the trail here was washed out due to flooding. You can hop onto the Burnhamthorpe Trail to reconnect with the rest of Sawmill Creek.

The Credit River runs through the city of Mississauga and flows south into Lake Ontario. It begins near Orangeville and travels about 90 kilometers before reaching the lake. The river gets its name from early fur trade practices, when traders extended goods on credit to the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Today, it’s a well-known natural area with trails, parks and wildlife.

Iroquois Shoreline Woods Park protects one of Oakville’s larger forested woodlots. There is a packed gravel path here, with a choose-your-own-pace loop trail that can run anywhere form 2-3 kilometres. Along the way it takes you through some very calm patches of oak and maple forest, making for a great local escape into the woods.

October 27, 2025, Marie Curtis Park

Located where Etobicoke Creek where meets Lake Ontario, Marie Curtis Park is a favorite local getaway. Built after the 1954 Hurricane Hazel floods reshaped the area, the park today offers sandy beaches, picnic areas, and multiple trails. Visitors can stroll creekside paths, spot migratory birds, or cool off along the lake, all in a peaceful green space named for Marie Curtis, the former reeve of Long Branch who helped guide the community’s recovery.

This park is well equipped to welcome visitors of all kinds. You'll find sports fields, a playground, paved trails, and picnic areas. It's a good destination on its own, but the Etobicoke Creek Trail that runs along the edge of the park can take you to many other parks and neighbourhoods.
