The Stadtkirche St Stephan in Gartz is a Gothic brick church and was built in the 14th/15th century. The church burned down to the outer walls between April 20th and 23rd, 1945. However, the star vaults of the choir were preserved. The choir was re-roofed in 1952 and separated from the nave.

The object was built in the years 1911–1913 as an extension of the present-day Piastów street. The bridge, approximately 250 meters long and 10 meters wide, was opened in January 1913. The longest, central span intended for navigation was additionally equipped with a rotating bridge. The project and construction were carried out by engineers Narten, Braun, Stuwert, Ostmann, and Herbst.

The steel bridge, built between 1911–1913, was rebuilt in 1955 after wartime destruction. It is equipped with a lifting span, which is rarely used today. It runs about 5 meters above the water level.

The bridge, along with the church, is the town's most striking structure. It's a steel truss bridge with a narrow central span that can be raised to allow pedestrians to cross on either side. Traffic is surprisingly light, making it easy to get to the other side.
