August 20, 2026, Malga Lessinia

The Malga Lessinia is a historic mountain hut in the Lessinia Natural Park (Veneto region) at an altitude of 1,616 meters. The building is located near Erbezzo in the province of Verona and today serves as a popular refuge and gastronomic establishment for hikers and mountain bikers. The stone building was erected in 1915 during the First World War as a barracks for Italian border soldiers (Finanzieri). The border with the Austro-Hungarian Empire ran only a few hundred meters away at that time. From 1945 onwards, the complex was used as a mountain pasture for livestock grazing and cheese production. Since the 2000s, the hut has combined traditional dairy farming with a traditional snack bar and restaurant.

Alpine hut in a beautiful location. Too bad you can no longer buy fresh cheeses. The alpine hut gnocchi are excellent.

Quota 1315 to decide whether to descend into the Adige valley or continue on the Baldo mountains. Asphalt road so I would say zero difficulty
