The Grillenburg hunting lodge was built in the 1550s under Elector Frederick Augustus of Saxony. However, the origins of this complex date back to the 12th century, as confirmed by findings in the cellars. At the beginning of the 13th century, a castle-like estate already existed in the same location. The castle complex, built in the mid-16th century, originally consisted of the Prince's House, the Huntsman's House, the Estate Office, and a servants' house with stables. The sandstone bridge over the Gondelteich pond was created by Pöppelmann in 1730. https://sachsens-schloesser.de/tharandt-jagdschloss-grillenburg/

These buildings formerly belonged to the Klingenberg manor, later to the E. Mahn paper and cardboard factory in Klingenberg. Today they are privately owned and beautifully restored.

The area around the bathing pond is definitely worth a visit even in winter, although of course (usually) nothing is open then.

Many people confuse it. The area is called Stille Liebe (Silent Love), the shelter Waldblick (Forest View), which also has a summit register.
