⛪ Church of the Holy Cross in Dresden-Weißig (Saxony) The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Cross in the Dresden district of Weißig dates back to the 13th century. The current building dates primarily from 1901, when the architect Woldemar Kandler redesigned the church in the Heimatschutz style with Art Nouveau elements. Older components such as the shaft of the west tower and the outer walls of the nave were incorporated. Inside, wooden galleries on three sides divide the space. The furnishings include an altarpiece by Alfred Diethe, a pulpit, the pews, and a Jehmlich organ with 21 stops on two manuals and a pedal. A comprehensive renovation in 2000/01 largely restored the Art Nouveau interior.
