A great cycling and hiking route runs along here amidst beautiful nature through the Buxtehude moors. Highly recommended. The moors near Buxtehude are a nature and EU bird protection area of approximately 1317 hectares, in the Harburg Elbe Marshes (natural region unit 670) in the Harburg and Stade districts.

Buxtehude Stavenort, the name derives from "stove, stave". This is what the Buxtehude bathing room was formerly called. It was located in the northeast of the old town. Stavenort has been called this since around 1575. Narrow, two-story half-timbered houses are located here, whose outer walls partly consist of remnants of the old city wall. They are characteristic of the formerly very densely built-up and winding residential quarter. Today, this cultural center of the city, located between the Buxtehude Museum for Regional History and Art, the Stavenort 16 Art School, and the Stavenort 5 City Archive, is a venue for public events.

The Jork Fruit Growing Experimental and Advisory Centre has been successfully working for fruit growing in Northern Germany for over 75 years, with the core area being the Lower Elbe region. Several institutions, such as the Fruit Growing Experimental Station of the Chamber of Agriculture of Lower Saxony, the Altes Land Fruit Growing Experimental Ring, the Northern Germany Organic Fruit Growing Experimental and Advisory Ring, and others, have joined forces at the centre to support commercial fruit growing through research, advice, and training and further education. In applied research, apples and pears, sweet cherries, sour cherries, plums and damsons, as well as strawberries, raspberries, red and blackcurrants, gooseberries, and blackberries are processed every year in hundreds of experiments on the experimental farms and in the laboratories in Jork-Moorende and Vechta Langförde.
