The southern part of the circular trail while overgrown and a little challenging to get through at places, is rich with flora in contrast to the northern part of the trail. There is a huge variety of wild plants and flowers. The heather in particular is not subject to burning for grouse shooting, so is left to maturity with a stunning display of colour when it’s in bloom during the summer.

The cliff walk would be dangerous in high winds. Otherwise a bracing walk, lots of fresh air and views of the Channel.

Saltburn is very pretty and Valley Gardens are good for a stroll. However Saltburn is not cyclist friendly. All off road paths are banned for cyclists and they are not allowed on the wide pavements. The only way to travel through Saltburn on a bike is up and down the dangerous and busy Saltburn bank.
