Lake Bohinj is attractive at any time of day. Clouds are often still present in the morning, creating a magical connection between the lake and the landscape. This unity is palpable. It only partially comes across in the pictures.

Very nice path/road (asphalt all the way), just keep in mind it isn't just "cycle" path; you share it with walkers, hikers, tractors, teenagers on motorbikes (unfortunately), and if you are lucky - wild ducks or deer. So, take care, particularly in high season! Oh, and absolutely stop, drink and fill you bidon at a wooden trough, you will see on the right side of the road. Sometimes it's just a trickle but it is always safe and delicious! Actually, I think it tasted even better whan I was young, but maybe it's simply my imagination. And while doing this, try to think briefly about all those unfortunate urbanites, who can't get a decent glass of tap water at home without a strong whiff of chlorine and some color tint - and consider yourself lucky. At least for a moment!

On the map, the route from Bled to Slovenia's most beautiful lake looks short – in reality, it's a bit longer. Luckily, there are wonderful cycle paths that offer a welcome change from the busy roads. Here, you glide more than you cycle. 🚴🏻♂️

Bled and Lake Bled, with Slovenia's only natural island, are located at the foothills of the Julian Alps and have attracted lovers of beauty for years. Traditional boats called pletna sail to the island, home to the pilgrimage church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and its steep staircase, whose bell is a special homage to love.
